Blacking out your site doesn’t help if the people voting on SOPA don’t visit it, and they probably don’t. That’s why this thing has gotten so far in the first place.
Also, the whole blackout thing is not an end unto itself, it is just to remind people that you actually have to do something in real life to help stop this. Reddit has a simple tutorial for you.
